The summer weather in Las Vegas is terrible! It’s always so hot outside so I only tend to stay out for about 30 min max because I don’t want to get sunburned or worse, get heatstroke!

So how does one stay cool in 100+ degree temperatures? Well here are a few ways that I stay cool during the summer in Las Vegas!
How Do I Stay Cool in the heat?
Stay inside!
One of the best ways that I stay cool is by not doing anything and just staying inside with the air conditioner! By not going outside, you don’t risk getting heatstroke or sunburned, and you stay nice and cool!
But if you have to go outside, these are the best ways to keep yourself cool –
Bring a Water Bottle
I’m putting this first because it is the most important method of them all! Always bring a bottle of water with you when you go anywhere (especially when you go walking or running) as you will need to stay hydrated! Being out in the heat for too long without any water in your system can be really dangerous! But don’t drink too much, you CAN become over-hydrated.
This is the current water bottle that I am using. It is a 40 oz Hydroflask with a straw lid.
Use a Cooling Towel
Another way to stay cool is by using a Cooling Towel. These are fairly cheap and do wonders for keeping you cool! You soak them in water for a few minutes and they stay cool for HOURS!
Wear Breathable Clothing
During the hot months it is best to wear breathable clothing. The material that the clothing you are wearing is made from is very beneficial in keeping you cool. Don’t wear anything that is too thick, such as thick cotton shirts.
You want to be able to move around in the clothes and not feel like you are being suffocated in the material. Tank tops and shorts are my go-to outfit choices in the summer when I am not at work.
Wear Sunblock
This isn’t necessarily a way to stay cool, but it is very important for you to wear sunblock, as it will help you to not get sunburned! If you do happen to get sunburned, you can always use Aloe Vera Gel to make it not hurt so much! I like to put the gel in my fridge to make it nice and cold for when I use it.
Wear a Hat
It’s always best to wear a hat in the summer to shield your face from the sun. It also helps keep the top of your head from becoming sunburned (it can happen regardless of wether you have hair or not)! My go-to style of hats is baseball caps and dad hats! Check out my favorite Disney Dat Hat for an idea of the types of hats I like to wear!
Wear sunglasses
It is also important for you to wear sunglasses to keep the sun out of your eyes, as it can be potentially dangerous for you to drive like that! The sunglasses also help to protect your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun! If you wear glasses, you can get a pair of prescription sunglasses!
Be sure eat
Not eating before going into the sun can contribute towards heatstroke. Make sure you eat something before you go out! It doesn’t have to be a big meal, you can have some yogurt and granola bars and be fine, but you need to have something in your stomach before going outside in the heat!
Go swimming
I have a pool in my backyard, so this one is a no brainer for me. But for those that don’t, going swimming can help you stay cool while you are outside! Wether it be at the beach or at a pool (public or private), swimming just makes you forget how hot it really is outside because of how fun it is!
How are you staying cool in the summer? How hot does it get where you live? Let me know below if there is anything else I should add to the list that I may have forgotten!
